My first Coilgun

Hi all,
2 weeks ago i build my first (and last) coilgun.
It was wa fun project. I just wanted to own such a thing, and it is pretty badass too. :evil:.
Today i made the video and uploaded it on YT.
I bet a laser would look pretty cool on it, but other projects are waiting .
Well, lets give it a shot (got it? ).

Exactly. The two black cables are the connections to the PCB.

Looks good! How many joules per cap bank? Is it on board power or do you have an external charger?

One day I'll get around to making an electromag projectile gun. Too much to do before that though.

The first and second stage got 4,8mF the last one 3,8. The last coil has a layer less to. The gun is charged by the socket. So it is not portable.
The first two stages got 384 joules, the last 304 Joules.

I don't have any real interest or current skill to manufacture one of these myself, but I find the concept fascinating. Thanks for sharing the pic and video. It is a very, very cool project imho...
