I just finished my first laser build! 120 mW 638 nm 501B!

Made from a 501B kit from Mrcrouse, and a 120 mW 638 diode+driver from DTR.

All the pieces laid out:

Congrats! Nothing beats the feeling of building your own laser and seeing it light.

Awesome job man! My first build was the newfierednecker which is almost the same as yours except I used Mrcrouse ultrafire 903 host. + rep to you my fellow atlantic canadian for a job well done!

Congrats on your first build! Looks great! I hope its the first of many for you!

+1!

What took you so long to finish you 1st build? :D Shorten up the wires too.

Congrats on your first build. Nice job!!!
If you are like me you are already looking to build the next one, as soon as you can find some money.:>)

Oh the wires. I did have to trim those after soldering them :P I forgive my sleep deprived state for not mentioning that. :) :P

Ahh™ it makes more sense now. There is NOT much room in these C6/501 hosts. Even the 2pk AixiZ
drivers will not fit, as I found out recently the hard way!
:(

OMG! I did the exact same thing on my first build! I had to trim a lot of wire! I was so proud of my first solder and heatshrink job that I did not even look! And I was wide awake! LOL

the more I looked at your pictures I now what to see more of the computer keyboard. I need a lighted keyboard and didn't know they existed :)

Alot of midspec keyboards come backlit now days.. As well as most laptops.. On my laptop you can even set the colours and pulse etc ... They have existed for well over a decade... Maybe even much more from what i vaguely remember?

The keyboard is a Corsair Vengeance K70. Its quite nice, with mechanical keys and customization keys. It will set you back 125$, but its worth it over a cheapy membrane keyboard.
