Hi All,
I'm posting my first build (or putting together pieces I bought anyway).
I purchased the following:
1.7W (2W M462 462nm) in Copper Laser Module W/1.8A X-Drive & Three Element Glass Lens From DTR
S4 Host with battery extension tube (using 2 x Panasonic 18650) and extended copper heat sink from Survival Laser. And then a drilled pill and battery contact board when I realised I needed them.
First off I got the diode and host and couldn't figure out how the hell to get it together and realised I needed a battery contact board and a drilled pill. I had tried to copy off someone else's posted build and didn't realise about needing the drilled pill and battery contact board. Anyway, I eventually got the required parts and put it all together.
I mangled the brass ring a bit but it all worked
It measured 1.8W with the three element lens and 2.15W with a G2 lens. I can't post the power pics because I have since ruined the LaserBee II thermopile - first I burned it with too tight a focus with this laser and then my wife thought it would be a good idea to wipe it clean and removed the black stuff off the sensor area :yabbem: It's recently been sent back for repairs.
Thanks to DTR for answering my stupid questions very quickly and patiently.
The laser is amazing. The power took a little bit of getting used to. I have some Eagle Safety Glasses that also do IR so I didn't realise how bright it was and burned a couple of holes in the paint on my bedroom roof and then set fire to a role of paper towels across the room.:shhh: The wife wasn't too impressed Maybe the LaserBee wasn't an accident
As this is my first bunch of pics happy to be told if I have missed anything or included unnecessary stuff. I realise the pics will probably be quite boring to experiences forum members ( but exciting for me).
Got my NDG7475 1W 520nm today so that will ne next.
Cheers
Mick
