hi all

few pics of my first blu ray build nothing special simple case to keep cost very low. total cost $55

its this diode module and driver 150mW 405nm Blue-Violet Laser Diode Module with Driver on eBay (end time 26-Aug-09 07:47:24 BST)

its only outputting 60mw but I'm only using a 9v battery to power it not the max it can take i can adjust the focus and make it burn like hell close up or at distance lit a red tip match at about 6 inches instantly.

it has a simple lock on/off button on the rear.

will upload pics of it running l8r

Very nice for a first build. Does it have a heatsink?

No unfortunately its not got one i will stick to the 2min duty it recommends.
unless someone can point me to a site that does cheap heat sinks im sure it will fit in the case with a bit of adjustment. a site in the uk would be better as extra costs in shipping i could do with out.

cheers

Looks very sharp! Nice job for a box build. I'm pretty sure DarkHorse sells heat sinks for Axiz modules.

Another thing: Don't count on it being 150mW. 125mW at most. And based on the sellers description, that's a PHR being driven at 122mA. Another thing that confused me is that they said the optimal driving range is 110-120mW. Anyway, you'll definitely be needing a heat sink for that, as PHRs don't always last too long at that kind of current. You could also make your own heat sinks out of washers glued together...
