I had my DX 30 at school, it seems some teachers have irrational fears. The Teacher who took it off me didn't listedn when i said, it's not dangerous, etc, i'm safe with it, and the fnicking school is reacting as if i had brought a knife fer fnick sake.
I'm understandably rather pissed off, but any tips for what i can say to get them to calm down, and to get it back?

But yeah. if everyone listened to hese silly fears, we wouldn't have electricity or nuclear power or anything like that.

Tell them that you payed $25 for it and I bet they'll give it back. A few teachers at our school always take laser pointers from kids (Usually I'm the one that sold them to the kids lol) and they don't give them back. On the other hand I had a nice teacher last week that wanted me to bring in my X105, I made a bet for a soda that I could light matches with my laser pointer, and when I lit the match he didn't say things like "that's too dangerous" etc. But try talking to the teacher and tell them the price of it and throw in a little science like "this is a state of the art, brand new technology, DPSS 532nm laser!"

Edit:spelling

yeah people think of lasers as big scary things that will burn your eye out, but really they don't see the beauty in them unless you have a cool teacher like styro! just tell em it is harmless due to the wavelenght ;D ;D ;D

well *phew* i just found out the only reason they is freaking out is that apparently, no lasers whatsoever are allowed at school. so its not because its powerful, just that it is a laser.
heehee and im selling DX 5 and 30s at school... wait till i bring my RPL i hope to get... [smiley=evil.gif]
without the battery, and with a keyswitch of course. [smiley=engel017.gif]

well you are lucky blue, i am making my 1500 post in your thread! :D ;D ;D well yeah my school said that too, even a <1mw red would not be allowed i do not think, but i was lucky enough to not have mine confiscated :-X

I love my school, it's a tiny school (650 kids MAX) so it seems to be a lot looser on rules then elsewhere. At least once a week I bring my case with my True 5mW, True 30mw and 115mW CNI greens with me, and of course some balloons, matches, a sharpie and my safety goggles. I still haven't gotten in trouble and I've shown it to a number of kids and teachers. I was even shining my True 30mW around my American Government class the day I got it and the teacher didn't give me hell about it. :D

Tell them that by holding it it can give them cancer, and by it touching anything it gives what ever it touches cancer.

Seriously though, laser pointers are banned at most schools because they can be an annoyance.

yea i told them my dx 30 costed me 200$ and i need it back i annoyed the teacher till she gave it back

Teachers cannot take stuff away permanently. Thats theft. I guess they can confiscate stuff, but only for a short amount of time.

That is where you are wrong - especially if the item in question is illegal (like a laser !) It is just like saying they have to give you back yourbattle axe you made in metal shop when you leave for the day. nope - they can turn it over to the authorities, or if they wanna be jerks, they can just keep it. What are you going to do about it ? Call the cops and say, "Officer - my teacher stole my illegal laser pointer" ? That;s just like say, ing, "Officer - he stole my P O T and I want it back" LOL !!

Uhm...on the other hand, Blue - I personally think you are nuts (I was GONNA put in a different name, but decided to be nice) to sell those at school, you are asking for trouble in a big way. The first moron that shines it in a teacher's eyes, and says, " I got it from Blue !" And you are screwed. Awe, to hell with nice...that is one of the stupidest things I have EVER heard - selling them at school. Wow. 'nuff said.

^^^ brutal, but that pretty much summed up everything i was gonna say. If they really want to be that way theres very little that can be done to get it back, tho most will to a parent.
