My DIY Blu-Ray

The blueray I posted in the eyeball thread was made before I had a lathe capable of thread cutting, I found that good size threads for a CR123 size barrel can be stripped out of old camera lenses. that is what holds mine together.

I must say that I have broken more drills, over the years, in copper than any other metal. Measuring tight tolerances on a material that gets hot so quickly when machining is a bit of an art as well.... good luck with the build, I await the result with interest.

Yes copper is really hard, Today I tried to use the lathe to make the 11.8mm hole for the dx lens assembly I FAILED the damn copper keeps heating up and breaking the plaque. A guy from work told me he will build a 11.8mm drill bit for me in the morning so i'm on the road again

it's not a real coin Rog, it's a button I found while walking to work this morning, it's domed shaped and made of aluminum, I already ground off the back part.

For your tail cap, you might consider using a set screw through the side. I know this will require a tool for removal, but batteries last a long time. Threads can be a real pain to cut.

due to the fact my copper is not cooperating with me at all (does not do what I want it to do) I will probably change my host to Brass or Bronze that I have laying around here I'm not sure which one it is because I don't know the diff. Anyway my new problem is will my flexdrive 2 have any problems running the blu-ray @ 90ma from a CR2 rechargable battery from dx? The new stock I have is smaller than the Copper.
