Sometimes, I use one of the dead ones as a dummy load to test a new driver. The junction voltage drop and current usually remain about the same unless you REALLY blew it.

Yes, keep them. Wether you use them as peices of garbage to throw around, or as a test load for driver circuits is up to you, but they are still useful even when they seem dead, and dont forget the zombie diode scenario.

When I'm bord, I just push the really dead ones till they start to smoke.
