Sometimes, I use one of the dead ones as a dummy load to test a new driver. The junction voltage drop and current usually remain about the same unless you REALLY blew it.

Yes, keep them. Wether you use them as peices of garbage to throw around, or as a test load for driver circuits is up to you, but they are still useful even when they seem dead, and dont forget the zombie diode scenario.

Does anyone know when (if) the term "zombie diode" will end up on wikipedia? ;D
When I'm bord, I just push the really dead ones till they start to smoke.

Zombie diodes are diodes with no soul that feed on the flesh of living diodes.Angry diodes that rise from the grave as creatures of the night.Only a massive current overdose will help the earthly bodies of those poor diodes to find peace next to their souls in Diode Heaven
Go ahead and submit it ::)
