yeah....i think with all the necasary parts available @ very little cost its become to easy to put a build together .......like u say , these r not hard to work with at all .

ok so nearly there , as u can see my compact 317 fits into the pill , all i have to do now is make a disc with battery contact and then its ready to wire up . still need to find a nice knurled ring for my lens .

yeh...i seen that ..cheers dude ....i`m gona use part of a piezo though...i have 1 which is perfect in size ...;)

so i`ve ran the diode with a duty cycle of 30sec @ 297ma , the beam was very clean , instant burning & it got barely warm to touch ...the 317 which was not sinked was alot hotter to touch than the sinked diode ..i was using 2x 18650`s .

the other 317 i`ve built max`s out just under 400ma , so i will try that later starting @ 300ma .

if some 1 could give me there professional opinion on the limitations of these diodes it would be greatly appreciated .

cheers guys

absolute rookie mistake ..R.I.P 1st flat diode ...16v dump from the cap !! so i`ve just picked up another and going to replace .....also i`ve now got 1 of the 3pin flat diodes for the nxt build ...tested it @ 250ma , works very well , i`ve got to machine the sink on this because its a stupid design .....
