Friendly chipmunk--how long did it take to get him to jump into you hand for food?
Normally they keep a pretty good distance unless raised by humans from the get/go.

Hi,
I am in the same setting on 7 acres in a rural zone of horse farms and crops. Hy that's the same humming bird feeder I have there's two .
Tons of those chipmunks . And for the deer there are always at least 6 0r 7 at a time. If I put out corn theres 15 to 20 of them feeding.
Nice pics I love living in this area I come home from work and I can hear a squirrel fart its so quiet.

Wow nice little eco system going..:)
Talk about a farm from Mother Nature.. I wouldn't think you would ever want to move and live anywhere else..

Great pics and a nice yard, Alien. I have a very similar wooded yard in the country and also wouldn't give it up for anything, so peaceful to just walk outside and be one with nature! :)

Thanks for sharing!

Hi AL,
Thats so cool saving the critter you have a friend for life, The hawks sit in the trees here waiting for one of the chickens . Bears have none thank God. Turkey buzzards are plentiful here at Easter or other holidays I put out the turkey what left or beef or ham bones . They flock to get to them they are quite large birds up close.

We went to Yellowstone in 1981 for a week. The Chipmunks there are all very friendly too. I think it is in their nature to be so as they will come to you for food. People in Yellowstone are always feeding the wildlife.

Iv'e seen small red squirrels feed out of someones hands before..
Also years back a regular city squirrel which looked to be pregnant was climbing the stairs trying to what looked like trying come into the house to make residence or a food handout from us standing right there?? I had young nieces and nephews at the time and we couldn't chance it so we never fed it.. Of course you want to feed it but it would of just led to it being a nuisance..

Hate to rain on your parade guys, but critters are evil. For some years ,at my house, I have been at war with them. Especially raccoons, opossums, and feral cats. They burrow under the siding on the house and wreck havoc. I have rewired my phone lines 5 times. They tear through insulation. I am pretty sure there is a dead opossum in my wall now... there's a smell for you. I have hired exterminators, set traps, and got a few with a pellet gun. Still they come. BTW opossums are the most disgusting creatures on Earth. They will not touch the bait in a trap until it is spoiled and has some mold on it.
Currently I am constructing what has been dubbed "The Great Wall of Trump". It is a concrete barrier that will surround every inch of the house. My first choice was to dig a moat and fill it full of sharks with lasers attached to their heads.

We have had problems with squirrels getting into the walls in are home but finally found the source near the roof were they were getting in.
Some carpentry fixed the issue but yes it was a annoying, creepy 2 or 3 years..
Opossums might look evil but they are good for the eco system, especially in the city streets and they are known to be 99% un effected or tolerant to not having or getting rabies.. They will also avoid you at all costs unless provoked.
Oh I have some rodent phobias and I can see it some people not liking them though..
It's funny that Lifetime17 sure taught me alot about critters :)
