After seeing Cenobite9's 6x in action I had to try an 8x. I used a Pioneer BDR-203 drive. Super easy to get the diode out of the drive. Not too bad to get the diode out of the heatsink.

I am using a lavadrive 4 set to 310ma (verified with a test load as well as inline current measurement).

For the host I used a CREE RC-A3. This is a flashlight that is powered by 1 AA battery. I was using it with a 803T @ 100ma, with a special driver from cdanjo but that driver died. All I had to power this laser was CR2's and they didn't want to fit. I spent two days (about two hours total) filing the inside out to accept the CR2 batteries. I am only using one and a spacer. They charge to 3.5V and seem to be able to power this laser quite well. I have some 14500's on order that will take their place very soon.

With no lens I read 420mW output! :D Through an acrylic Aixiz lens I get 350mW. :D A 405-G-1 lens is on its way to me as I write this. I expect to see 400mW with that lens.

The power is simply jaw dropping. I swear the following is true...I was sitting at my desk looking for new things to burn and I have a "core" of concrete with small rocks embedded in it. I put my goggles on and focused to about 10". It was burning the concrete! Almost any surface succumbs to its fury when focused. It will burn the baked enamel finish off of a stapler, the white paint on my cubicle, plain white paper etc.

It needs a heatsink! I only run it for about 30 seconds at a time. I have a friend with a lathe and will try to talk him into making me one. ;)

Please get that heatsink on pronto! It makes me nervous when you run an expensive diode without a heatsink. It is such a waste to lose a valuable diode. ;-) Cheers

With $300.00 or more invested you can rest assured that I am being careful. ;)

Have you received your 405-G1 lens yet? I really want to see that lens in action before I order one for myself.

Lots and lots of people have tried the G1 lens. Simply check out the reviews section or a number of posts on the bluray section. Everyone's been happy about these lenses. They usually give bluray between a 25% and 30% boost in power.

I don't have a power meter, but I can tell you my 8x is a lot more painful with a G1 installed, I can't leave it on my skin for more than a second.

agreed, just use the search button.

Guys, Cenobyte is a friend of mine. He knows all about the 405-G1 lens. When he said "I really want to see that lens in action" he meant it literally. ;)

No. But my LSP-BluRay GLASS Laser Lens is here. I saw a peak of 380mW with 365mW typical.

What's an LSP blu-ray glass lens?

Please give us comparisons vs your 405-G-1 glass lens when it gets there! :)

Wal-Mart I think. They are just simple yellow goggles but work quite well.

Disclaimer: These are not designed for use with lasers and I will not be held responsible for any injuries sustained from their use. :D

How much power can this goggles block 405nm if you shine the blu-ray through it.:gun:

that beamshot is impossible? i thought green lasers where more visible then blue-violet....and my 50mw green laser is about 4 times less powerful then that blue-violet beam pic.
