Hey guys, I've been lurking for a while now, and just recently decided to register..

Situation 1:

I am looking to buy a red 200mW laser..I'm debating between these:
www.rayfoss.com
AND
New Style waterproof red laser 200mW /adjustable [OLNWRL200] - $53.99 : Welcome to O-Like.com, Your source for laser products

I like the way the rayfoss laser looks better...but the rayfoss one doesn't appear to say anything about coming with rechargable lasers like O-Like. Any opinions?

Situation 2:

I had a $127 order with WickedLasers for a 100mW 405nm violet laser..its been over a month, they're just shipping in waves...I've had successful orders with them before (100mW greenie)..should I wait out or buy the 200mW 405nm violet from O-Like?

Thanks guys! I hope to start building my own soon!

You can get batteries cheap online if it doesn't show up with one... Both of those companies make good quality lasers for low-mid prices. Just get the one you like more! I have the o-like one there but if I were to start over, I'd most likely go for the rayfoss like you...

Also, Welcome to LPF! Don't forget to introduce yourself in the Welcome section!

Edit: I'm sure you know this from being a long-time reader...but Jayrob has got the hook-ups for easy DIY builds!

Alright, thanks! I probably will end up going with the rayfoss one. One of the reviews I read here said something about the batteries. If it shows up without them, its gonna suck having the laser with no power. Have you submerged your waterproof laser yet? I'm wondering if they truly are completely waterproof.

I have. They are waterproof as long as it's only a few feet under water. Not for SCUBA diving haha!

Keep in mind that you can still damage your eyes underwater! Be safe!

Oh okay. Makes sense. Any thoughts on the 405nm laser? How well can you see your 150mW at night?

Of the 405nm, you can see the beam from looking down the laser...It is no where near as bright as a green or a high powered 445nm. 532nm and 445nm are both just amazing colors. If you are wanting to see a beam, and since you already have a 532, you can always get one of Yobresal's or DTR's builds that they put up often.

Here is DTR's "Deal of the day" that I believe is still up for sale!

Both are great builders if you are looking for a built DIY laser.

That's crazy..I feel like that is a little more power than I'd be looking for right now. XD

I would caution against the Rayfoss waterproof.
I have both and the o-like one is more durable, and more difficult to break, also it takes a larger-capacity battery.
The rayfoss one has a terrible problem of loosening it's waterproof seal (at the front aperture) when you focus it in and out a few times. With the o-like red waterproof, I have no worries about it being totally sealed.
As for the 405nm laser; Sure wicked lasers look nice, but right now, it will take forever to receive just about anything from them. Also, a 200mw focusable bluray is nicer (and more usable) than a 100mW unfocusable bluray. I would go with the o-like one for sure.

Hmm, alright. Thanks. It seems like it may be difficult to cancel my order with WL, lol. I am going to try after October 3rd though, that's the next shipment set..if I'm not in it, then I will probably cancel.
