More gas whitelight

More awesomeness! I love how your camera clearly picks up both beams, even when they are side by side. Makes for some very cool shots. +rep for you!

Very nice! I've done this once myself, but it was somewhat sloppy. I used a 680nm diode with my argon. the color was good, but my dichro has some surface issues...I need to get some new ones. as crazy mentioned....I love how your camera has such clarity and ease of showing the two beams side by side without mixing them, and focusing the results without glare washing out the whole photo. +1

Thanks guys! I'll admit, there was a bit of tweaking in Lightroom. These were 30 second exposures at around f8. I would start the exposure then light a match and blow it out into the beams... Took a few tries.. I need to get some glycerine and use that for fog instead..

The pictures are great but I like your setup. I've been following your threads on this project for while. If you had to guess how many hours would say you have in this ? Rep+

Edit. Are those threaded flanges, close nipples, and pipe caps? Nice

Thanks - I was going to start a thread on the setup, but I'll just get into it here.. :)

As to time invested, its a lot more than needed - due to lots of trial and error. I have two kids - a 4 and 3 year old, and I just tinker in the basement while they play with my tools and wood scraps, so its easy to lose track of time.

Over the course of two weeks, we probably spent an hour a day most days.. I'd say 10 hours or so total...

Nice catch on the pipe fittings... yup, floor flanges, nippled, caps and 90 degree bends... drill and tap three 1/4X20 holes in the floor flange and you have all the adjustments you need if you want to go super cheap. I'm using that while I build up my stock of proper kinematic mounts. THe only issue I have is there is a bit of slop in the threads, so the pipe mounts can wobble a bit before settling in... makes tuning in a setup a bit tricky.

And thanks for the rep guys!! I appreciate it!

Edit to add: Ohh - and the tabletop is just two sheets of White pegboard cut to fit and a pegboard backing... The small optical table is the one I documented my build of earlier.
