Can you take some pictures of your driver setup and wiring, and ofcourse some beamshots?
 





'Originally settled on 1.225A.

Now, after reading about the insane durability of the 445 diodes, I want more. However, my flex drive doesn't seem to want to push more... I can't get it past ~1.225 without it rolling back down to 550ish.

I thought these things could usually be cranked up past 1.5?

I'm using the top configuration.

I also tried with with TWO different flex drives (holding one for a friend) with the same results. Make me wonder if my 4 1N5406 diode test load is resulting in a false reading.

Just removed that last resister (bottom configuration) with same results.

Can these things be hooked up in series?
 
First, learn to use "EDIT" button to add information to unreplied post, to avoid double posting, although you went ahead and made 4 posts in a row. We don't like that here.

Second, you never measure the current in series with the diode. Couple of miliseconds is needed for the contact to loosen up, and your FlexDrive will fry itself. Boost drivers must NEVER be ran without load, even if it's such a short moment of disconnected wires while measuring.

So now that we know it's faulty, we know why are you getting such strange current measurements.
 
First, who cares if I have 4 posts in a row? I mean, I'm all for people clearly and concisely presenting information (notice, no bricks of text here?) but you're just being anal.

Second, I coiled wire around the multimeter leads, taped them taught, and soldered the rest. Problem solved, but thanks for the assumption.

Third, learn to read -- I used TWO flex drives and got the same readings.

Fourth, yesterday you made a hand full of half-assed comments to me on another thread, all of which were silly assumptions where you tried to assert some unwanted advise. Most notably, about thermal paste between the module/heatsink. I didn't want to be a dick and call you out on it, but you were wrong. If you can't figure out why, ask somebody else.

Jeeze. No matter what the community there is always some asshole trolling around. Some complain about 4 posts in a row; I complain about people going around making assumptions, trying to correct people, and just generally being abrasive asses. My life advise to you is to find something more productive to do with your time.

Oh right, I'm sure that I'm the only one advising against double-triple-quadruple posting.

My "half assed commends" are how I tried to help you with the problem at hand, but seeing that they are not near to appreciated, I'm sure somebody else will help you, y'know with the laser and your attitude problems.

Not sure how do you define a free time, but I don't have any, you know being busy studying for final exams for my college, in between which I manage my laser hobby and soem outside freerunning/parkoruing with friends, when not trying to help a LOT of new people who come here asking for help and designing new heatsinks to present to the forum.

While you in your "productive" free time didn't even manage to find enough information to get you started in your first build, and all the info is here, handed to anybody on the big silver platter with "Google seach bar" laser-engraved up there in the corner.

For every 10 noobs that end up being grateful for the little time I have spend here answering their questions, there's just that one a-hole who is angry at me for some reason, possibly for the reaason of helping them which implies that they need help.
Like yourself.

So since we're already talking, why are you angry at me? Any special reason, or just you?

Before calling someone out on something, maybe check that your facts are correct first. Double, triple, octo posting is generally frowned upon as it creates unnecessary thread bumps, and prevents people having to scroll a whole page of posts from the same user. The edit button doesn't have an expiry time for a reason.

If you thought what he was saying was wrong, then mention it. If I ask you what the current position of the sun in my sky is right now, you aren't going to have a clue what to say unless you have some other information. If you were getting the wrong answer, obviously you did not make yourself clear enough, or there was a misunderstanding somewhere.

Besides a personal pissing context between myself and Eudaimonium about how we spend our free time, I'll summarize my thoughts:

1. I was/am wrong about the multi-posting. I apologize to the forum, and will heed this rule in the future.

2. Lots of people here have given me some really great advise, which I really appreciate. If you check my post history you will see this. What I don't appreciate is people answering questions (esp. unasked, by means of major assumptions, or otherwise pontificating) with an arrogant attitude. Myself, like many others in this world, will never respect those who lack modesty.

3. I can't say I will always call people out in the future, as I believe a little tolerance to save somebody else's ego/feelings is an OK thing if no harm is to be done by the subject matter. Call it a white lie. It set me off in this situation because it happened several times, and then Mr. E decided to take an aggressive attitude towards me... annoying.

Anyway, I'll play by the rules. :beer:
 
"Mister E" never took any sort of agressive or offensive attitude towards you, but perhaps it's how you wanted it to look like so you can just vent off some steam?

And yet again, I'm very interested in what exactly got you so worked up.

Specifically, in which provided information and advice was I wrong in the heatsinking and thermal paste advice and notes.

Feel free to quote everything I ever posted towards you that you feel is inaccurate, based on assumptions, and generally wrong.
 
Yeah I know. Because there's nothing to quote except posts which I put effort into writing to provide as much help and information as I could, compiled into short-ish posts which are closely related to the topic at hand.

And yet, you find them offensive for some reason.

Really nice, hitting a laser wall face first, attempting to build a Class IV 445nm laser without even most basic soldering skills or any electronics work experience what so ever, and asking for help, and being a jerk to me, trying to help you out.
