Wow this sounds gewd, although just so you people know, the technology that will be released around 20 years from now already exists, hell flat screen TVs (plasma/LCD) existed 20-25 years ago they just werent on the market, so think about it we already have disks that hold 4Tb they just aren't on the market yet, same as many other products.

Dont be so sure..

the tech that they think they will use in 20 years is here.. but we discover new stuff every day,..

And as far as "Holding back tech" its true that manufactured tech is often held back for inventory liquidation of old tech..

Its not NEW tech its just more expensive untill its mass produced..

The new tech is not here yet (else it would not be NEW in 20 years)

remember moores law..

The existence of technology is one thing, being able to mass-produce it cheap enough to be reasonably affordable for consumers and make enough profit to win back the R&D cost as well is a different story. There's no such thing as a global company-conspiracy which delays new technology just to get rid of old stock.

And no, Philips cannot make an everlasting light bulb. ;)

Anti-trust sure screwed us there!

At the end of the day, it's all politics, man.
