yup we were thinking up top ( ;)) to do like a cheap price, say, 10 dollars a ticket, and once we raised enough maybe buy a X-75 or something, give that out, and the rest would go to C0ld. Or, if people are willing to pay around $20 a ticket, we could even raffle off a blue pointer/portable or a high powered portable laser!

it all depends on how many are willing to pay for this.

regards,

amk

Yep, the more for a ticket, the better the prize (and more money for the forum).

Sorry y'all, been quite busy. Still going to be offerng an Oceanus blue for raffle soon (proceeds above the cost of the unit will go to LPF). Sorry for all my delay

Just a suggestion-
Since you guys where talking about the winner getting an X-75, I would give the the option of getting a laser equivalent to the cost of an X-75 ($150). But if they don't have safety goggles, I would then limit them to a $100 laser, with a $50 pair of safety glasses, if the laser is stronger than 50mW. Maybe have someone make the strongest DIY Red laser they could make for under $100, and toss in a pair of safety glasses.

$20 a ticket is a bit much (imo)

$10 would be better

would you rather get an expensive high powered blue module, or a 75mW or so green? thats what it comes down too. although no guarantees, who knows, we may have more money to work with if the tickets are $10 each, and we may not have enough money raised for a blue. it all depends on how much money we raise.

I think $10 a ticket is a good price. I won't spend $20 on a raffle ticket I can tell you that, but If someone would want to spend that much or more they can simply buy multiple tickets.

I think it is an awesome idea. What better then to provide support to those worthy (or more worthy then someone not on LPF... :P) to help raise some $$$ for a lucky members dream, or hobby? It would be awesome and could actually raise some business with some of our good companies if one of them would be willing to host it. Imagine if you had 70 members buy $10 tickets for the chance to win a RPL or something like that?! Not only would it be entertaining and exciting, but it would be a cool topic to fallow up on. And if you weren’t the 1st prize winner or whatever, how cool it would be to congratulate who does win by reading his/her posts about their new laser!

I think there are some people who should try to think a little more optimistically. :) The world is constantly trying to screw us over, but when I go to LPF, I try to leave all the crap behind. Hey, that's what hobbies are for! Anyway, just my some more of my thoughts :P

- Thanks.

it is a good idea, most people find "donating" easier when they get something from it(although, then it wouldnt be donating, but w/e)
