I've had this host sitting around forever and decided to put
something in it. The host really is far too nice for a 826 but
I was tired of looking at it. I used a 500 mA Jib driver that
I wired up with a 470 Ohm resistor and a blue LED as to make
use of the LED hole in the host. If anyone is interested the
wiring to connect the LED to the driver it goes
V(+)----Resistor----(+)LED(-)----V(-). The laser is focusable if
the front cap is removed, I have it set to infinity and the dot is about
the size of a baseball a couple hundred meters away, very pleased. I added a little bit of material under the button so that it
sticks out of the host a bit more which makes for silky
smooth button action.
The laser does about 275 mW on my LPM with crappy batteries, anyway
by far the nicest 660 nm in my collection. Pictures:
Driver top side
Driver bottom side
Empty host
Lens cover removed, laser remains focusable if desired
I like the blue/red combination
Beam shot!
Beam shot next to 475 mW 635 by rhd
LPM reading on my Laserbee A, pretty happy with current/output seems to be a good diode
Thanks for looking!
