hmmmm! Vise!.....and two hands on the dremel for stability! Sounds like a plan. Thanx. I'm gettin' ready to take my first one down at any moment. By the looks of it, there's more to hold onto than the LCC's. Will let you know if it survives.

So far I haven't killed any by the removal process. I can't say the same about firing them up! But even that has diminished since I started putting caps on the diodes. Even with a number of short circuits and forgetting to short the driver caps after setting the current. I've become accustomed to not worrying about static and spikes anymore. One happy camper!

Hmm. I just cut the heatsinks away from the diodes with a pair of side cutters. the pot metal these heatsinks are cast out of is relatively soft. I've never had much trouble doing this way. Usually a snip on each corner is enough for me to get the diode out.

Well, there you have it. Just snip and remove!!! I'm afraid to snip! There's not that much there to begin with. That was my biggest problem, nothing to grab on to.

I've always been apprehensive about twisting and turning them. Anyway, I finally found a nice little dremel drill wheel that got two of em' out. Actually it wasn't that little. It was a bit scary looking at first, but it was fast!

Well, I've got two more in the waiting room. Gonna set to 500mA. I'm tired messing around!

egad. Just go get a cheap triangular metal file from harbor freight or lowe's. You'll chop your finger off with that thing. It took me about 2 minutes per side to file trough the heatsink.

LOL! I found my smaller brown cutting wheel, but thought I'd give that toothed thing a try first. It didn't grab like I thought it might. It was surprisingly smooth. Fingers I have, but time I don't. I liked it so much, I picked up two more reds, but lcc's this time. Did you notice the GB for reds and bdr sleds from scopeguy going on as we speak :

Don't miss the boat!
