So sinner is working on a custom host for my next laser.

But im stumped on what diode to put in it.

Its a mid size all copper 2 piece host with press fit for the module so heat transfer and long runtimes even with multiwatt diodes should be obtainable. I have a plan to sink driver direct to host so extended runtime should be very favorable.

Im just not sure what to run with it, one of the 462nm diodes, save up for the NDG7475. Put a BDR-209 diode in it or just go cheap and put a M140 in it and call it a day.... bright side I still have at least a month or two to decide :)

Im open to all suggestions.

Mid size may mean different things to different people, maybe wait until you have a photo. What size batteries does it take? 1 or 2 of them? If you need to decide before you get it so you can build something right away when it arrives then just get something you don't have yet. It looks like you only have one blue so far, you might try a 9mm 445nm, they are twice as bright as a M140 and you can kill spiders with one.

Its 18650 or 2x18350 or 2x16340, so should run any driver/diode.

Its rough same length as c6/501b but thicker with much thicker solid copper walls and finning, will cool very well.

Copper lends itself very nicely to green. My suggestion is a 1W 520 :eg:

That would be a good idea. Unfortunately the price is high.
This is the problem, it would take me a few months to save up for it. And I'll have the host long before I would be able to save up for the diode.

Might just throw a temporary m140 in it :)

It sounds like it might also be a good fit for a
standard 9mm. Basically anything except the
NDB7A75 would work. For that you need a
LARGE heatsink.

There are PL TB450B, P73, Oclaro, and
BDR-209, all of which will work.

The m140 diodes are very nice. Good beam specs with a 3e glass lens. Also they can be safely run around 2w. Plus they are cheap. Run with an x drive.

Edit: last m140 I got I can safely say laser above 445nm aswell. I was lucky most likely but I can say you'll get better beams from that vs the 9mm diodes new or old.
