I strongly recommend that you wait for the experts here at LPF to chime in before buying anything.

I really want to know what purpose you use, if only for entertainment, you only need a pointer with 1 mrad divergence ,if for the purpose of needing a tight beam, you cannot buy such a pointer
this is jet laser,you can buy here,it is better

What will be the beam size/shape of this beam at 600yards -- 1watt green laser with 10x beam-expander? says $389.99.
switch_type-pl_e_mechanical/90-ac_adapter-no/50-battery-no/49-goggles-no

Also, will any of these lasers run off of the cigarette-lighter in your vehicle? (This one lists some sort of AC adapter...)

If it supplies the correct voltage --in this case you need one that supplies 8V --common sense. 12volts from a car battery is not what the laser was designed to work on and probably ruin/smoke the driver in the laser .
Ask Jetlasers your questions--email them--they are the common sense place to ask you questions about their products. They have the best customer service in the business and will get back to you on anything you ask.

How old are you?

I am 80yo.
What is the correct formula for estimating beam size at large distances, using the specified 2mrad-divergence listed at jetlasers.org?
Is it as follows?
2mrad (milliradians) at 600yards:
2e-3 * 600 * 3 * 12 = 43.2inches = 3.6feet???
Is this the correct eqn?
And, can I trust the mrad values listed at jetlasers??

With Beam expander:
MP = magnification factor of beam-expander
Di = beam diameter at aperture
L = distance to 'target'
thi = divergence value
Do = beam diameter at L distance

Do = MP * Di + L * thi/MP

Example:
2mrad divergance
600yard target
1mm beam diameter at aperture
10x beam expander

Convert all to inches...:
L = 21600
MP = 10
thi = 2e-3
Di = 3.937007874015748e-002

Do = MP * Di + L * thi/MP
gives:
Do = 4.713700787401575e+000 inches

This is almost the same as just thi/MP * L which gives:
%Simpler version is just the second term:
L * thi/MP
gives:
4.32inches (only off by 8%)

I will just use an AC/DC converter off my car battery and plug the jetlaser 120AC-to-8VDC adapter into it. done.

Does the laser in post #5 automatically turn off at the end of it's 3minute on-cycle?
