I did set mine over 1 amp, but how much over I cannot remember. My best guess is that it will likely do okay at that current if you use a good heat sink.
Yeah I'll give it a shot, if it fries I could try out one of those cheap IR diodes and see if it works.

I really want a waterproof high-nm laser lol

Also found this link: https://www.digikey.ca/en/products/detail/AD%205.6-9MM/38-1033-ND/287037?utm_campaign=buynow&utm_medium=aggregator&curr=cad&utm_source=octopart

but will wait on the RFQ to confirm dimensions.

Btw, do you guys think a standard Mitts 500mw could withstand 1.2A of current?
Hi Yes it will @ 1.2a it will give you a little over 1W, its a better choice of diode than a Oclaro 700 by far. You might want togo with a 3E or G8 lens the divergence is a tough one . These are really good diodes and they last at high amps , just be careful with dust when changing lenses its an open can diode.

Dust won't be an issue since once the laser is assembled there's no way to focus it or change lenses lol

I'll try it at 1.2A once I recieve it
