Without manufacturer names, it is difficult to get tested information on cheapo lasers on the market.

I was wondering if it was ok to start a thread with ballpark-guides of what to expect. Just to share information.

For instance, I'm sure this is a common generic red laser
R304 A 650nm Adjustable Focus Red Laser Pointer Laser Torch Astronomy Military | eBay
I messaged the seller and was told it was 200mW.

Does anyone know what one should expect from this $20 generic?

In the description they say it is <2mW  I think you should believe the description :)

Mr. cube, Everyone is required to put a <5mW label on their pointer on ebay, regardless of the actual power. I think the 200mW claim is far more likely.

Thanks, I know it's an order of magnitude estimate, but that's still pretty good value :)

I am currently interested in this WB one, if it's in the same class that might be interesting to some, if i get it maybe i can eventually get round to a review

I like the concept of this thread. But I see trouble in the future. If we started a thread with tested mw ratings from different sellers, then the government would know who to add to the "do not let in the country" list.

Also, I don't think any of the eBay lasers(OTHER than the pens) are very popular here as there are usually better deals straight from manufacturer.

OK, I guess there is a reason for everything then
To help buyers without stepping on retailers' toes, maybe we can limit it to cheap lasers which have had some attempt at a rating (i.e. >5mW). Once there are a few models indentified, this could make shopping on unrated sites easier.

Again, this is just to sort out the clear fakes :) Any reports appreciated
