I know there are alot of threads out there about shipping >5mW lasers to the US. I would like to know some websites which are safe to purchase lasers from. I recently read certain websites have to approved by the FDA so that they can be shipped to my home. What are some laser-selling websites that are FDA approved?

FDA compliant laser shops:
Laserglow.com (Canada)
Z-bolt.com (USA)
AtlasNova.com (USA)
Optotronics.com (USA)

A laser "pointer" above 5mW is illegal to import.
Read up to find out what qualifies a laser for legal importation.

Most resellers that sell "illegal" lasers still guarantee delivery. USA customs has not cracked down on illegal importation of lasers (yet), so you will be safe if you order from a company that guarantees delivery.

Novalasers.com (Canada) and Dragonlasers.com (China) sell similar products and have a good track record for delivery. I have not heard of any customs confiscations from either of these companies.

I would stay away from those kinds of stores. You will be much safer going with a retailer that sells lasers as a specialty, and not any kind of electronic gizmo.
For example, the product you linked to is described as:
200mw 532nm Blue-Violet Laser Pointer Star projector-Pen

Which should raise a red flag. 532nm means green... and saying it is "blue-violet" is a contradiction.

FYI, any laser pen >5mW will be illegal to import. Unless the laser has an FDA accession number and the proper safety features, it is illegal to import. Period.

This does not mean it will get confiscated, however. But there is a chance that it may.

Ok, I think I'll just get a laser from Wickedlasers because I saw "FDA certified" on it's website. Thanks for your expertise!

Ok, I actually want this laser, but I'm not sure if this website is safe, I found multiple websites with the same product, but I'm not sure if they're FDA approved. Is there a way where I can find out if the website is?

Also, will lasers from other countries such as China be confiscated?

Hello. I am the owner of Entexion
I was doing a little research on our website statistics and came across this forum (as you've placed a link to one of our products).

We have been selling laser pointers for well over 2 years, and most of our customers are based in the U.S. We have never had a single problem with delivery of any of the lasers that we have listed, so I don't think you should worry about not getting it delivered. If you have any further questions, please ask, as I will be checking this thread from time to time.

Kind regards,

Interesting. So the question on everyone's mind: is it green or blue-violet? :p

Hi. I didn't quite get you. The title, description and even the picture shows it is blue-violet :)

i think if you dont realise the problem with that lasers description you should probably read more before getting one lol. if the company shows complete laser ignorance like many of the cheaper ones do, i wouldnt consider buying from them

the 532nm part is repeated several times. also included in the description is very bad grammar and
# 20mW blue laser, is ready to work for your purpose.
# Light source: 532nm/200mW blue laser module.

changing specs randomly. I think a reputable company would at least proof read for obvious mistakes like that.

Let's see:

It's not 532nm
It's not blue
None of the pictures show a "star" laser

And somehow I doubt that . . .

"This laser star projector is one of the amazing new produce every year people excited about it, it is widely used as the decoration for the home, cafe, bar and so on."

You can pick up this same laser on eBay for $10

Do NOT send this company any money

Peace,
dave
