LED's for Throwies

Aaron636r said:
I'm about 12 minutes from Upland. More than welcome to mail them if you prefer. Just let me know the shipping to 92503 and I can...Paypal??

I do a large halloween event every year and use allot of LEDs for lighting.

Thanks Dave

You are welcomed to come by. PayPal fees and postage are good things to avoid. I have an orientation this evening, but I am free after about 2:00pm the rest of the week.

I'll PM my address to you.

Peace,
dave

I haven't done much "experimenting" with these. However, with throwies, one does NOT have direct contact between the magnet and the metal surface. When you make a throwie, there is at least the thickness of the diode leg AND a couple of layers of tape between the magnet and the surface. I don't know how much smaller you could go with them and still have them stick to the surface when "thrown" at the surface.

A magnet strong enough to overcome total throwie inertia in orienting the throwie to allow the magnet to attach to a metal target in the brief time allowed will likely also be strong enough to attach through a few layers of tape. My comment concerned the possibility that a smaller magnet glued at the end of a short tail of string might work as well--and at lower price. For somebody with throwie components, it would seem easy enough to check out.
