LED Maglite 3D Direct Drive SST-90 5700K w/ aspheric lens Build + Info ***PIC HEAVY**

The leads are heat conductors too, the entire base is. The stars are designed to suck the heat from the leads as well, this should improve your chances.

I bought this particular heatsink off this member. The leads are also used to suck heat away from the emitter, but once you solder your wires on, they become part of the heatsink and suck some of that heat away. For this reason I decided to use full lenght wires running across the two traces

Then mounted it on this particular heatsink. Works perfectly fine. No bluish tint, no overheating... just a wonderful light.

Look awesome! I'll be checking the thread shortly. The tint is perfect isn't it? I need to start working on reviving mines.

Hmm, you could try that but it might be pretty dim or might not even light up at all. These LEDs need at least 9 amps to run properly. I wouldn't trust those batteries as well. I doubt they can pull a 10C discharge. I think I posted a few drivers in the OP if you wish to try that.
