Keep in mind you don't feel heat from red lasers as much as some others, because the red tends to be transmitted by skin rather than absorbed.

I have on order a 130mw 635nm Laser pointer...as I understand it, it is equal to a 325 mw 650nm laser in terms of brightness...if so, it will be fantastic.

In complete darkness it's not a issue to see the beam. And the people standing close will be able to see it as well but the more off angle you are to the beam the harder it is to see.
