Re: Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits

Ok, noob question here... What should I use to trim and insulate this thing?

Re: Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits

to trim: a dremel cutting disc or tin snips; to insulate: electrical tape

Re: Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits

i tested a lavadrive yesterday. and wow, it survived my highly abusive handling:

-i used alligator clips, so i had the output unconnected by high chance
-i connected the battery to the diode-output, d'oh! i was so sure the zener diode would be on the input-side..
-i used it almost-shorted, having only my multimeter connected to measure current, for perhaps 10 secs a few times
-in all that testing i dialed the pot randomly, trying to figure it out

well, there was no current flowing into the diode-pins at all. nothing got hot. nothing broke. it simply works as expected, once i hooked it up properly, with soldered wires. i was sure i killed it, and would have deserved.. ;-)

i hope drlava still sells these to me, knowing how i treated one of those gems? i promise better care, normally i am quite good at electronics.. well, i'll simply read the manual before testing, d'oh! :-)

so, again, these drivers are freaking great!

Re: Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits

Is it normal to have the laser blink on and off really fast when the batteries go dead? (I put freshly recharged 3XAAA batteries and it stops doing this).
Pictures available at the end of this thread:

I hope this wasn't already covered, I tried a few searches but could find nothing relevant.

Re: Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits

That's more-or-less normal for low batteries in boosting mode.  Probably the internal boost current limiting kicking in.

Re: Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits

So you got my payment from like 4 days ago right?

Re: Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits

Have you got mine also? i sent it awhile ago too, and havent got any replies.
It was for 1 MicroFlex driver and 1 Groove Driver.

Re: Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits

Is the FlexDrive positive regulated or works both ways positive or negative?

Will the driver works with case positive LD like the 808nm in a Kryton barrel?

Re: Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits

2 lava drives received yesterday... they are great!

thanks lava :)

Re: Lava Micro FlexDrive Driver (lavadrive2) fits

TheMonk, i read somewhere that they can be grounded to the case also.

But you better ask DrLava just incase.
