Hiya there folks.
I've learnt lots from the forum , seen lots , heard lots and grew lots.
Now its time to give back to the site.

I'll rate this laser on 3 points.
1: Delivery (Full mark 10%:5% on the Shipping date -1% for each day of delay; 5% on the packing, -5% if not packed with shock absorbers)
2: Appearance and peripheral functions(Full mark 20%)
3: Output /Burning Ability (Full mark 70%, -20% for each 10% underspec)

I give you a review of the last of the O-like 445nm 1W Tactical.

But first , lets hear it from Susie.
emailiz.png

3-5 days shipping
Lets see how does that stand to the test

First , the delivery schedule.
  1. Date Ordered: 04, May , 2013
  • Order Confirmed : 04, May, 2013
  • Received the first package: 14 , May , 2013
Ok... that already failed the test .
Notice the word "first package" .
Susie said that batteries and chargers cannot be shipped across the border and must be air mailed....weird but what the heck.

  • Received the last package on : 20 , May , 2013

11 days delay.....
Thats 0% for the shipping.

Lets check out the packages.
It was packed very nicely with LOTS of bubble wrap , which I swiftly ravaged ....... when Susie says it will be well packed....

its gonna be VERY VERY well packed.

It gets the full 5% for the packing

But I don't think you are here to look at paper boxes , lets get on with the LASER!

And here is my girl.
wp000365o.jpg
Matt black finish on a solid aluminium construction.

Clear labelling to indicate the orientation of the battery to be inserted.
wp000367z.jpg

Here is the back end of the laser , with a depressible switch.
One complain I have about the switch is that there are no indication of whether its depressed or not.
So every time I insert the battery , I have to cover the laser aperture with a moist cloth for fear it may unleash all its fury without warning.
wp000369.jpg

On a side note, the one I ordered was suppose to have an anodized aluminium finish ,NOT BLACK!
But I'm a practical man , as long as the laser works , its looks doesn't matter that much.

Moving on the the WATERPROOFING
Double O-ring construction on all removable ends of the laser.
However,there is a problem.
The focusing of the beam relies on the rotation of the crown . I got a feeling after a few months of usage , the wear and tear would really decrease the waterproof ability of the crown's O-ring.... so thats a worry.
I wouldn't immerse this in water if I were you.. lets just say this is splash resistance.
wp000373i.jpg

This laser is running on a 3.7V 18650 Li-Ion cell .
The stock battery comes with no marking beside the polarity .
Which I swiftly switched out for some protected Panasonic 18650 cells.
Batteries, like goggles. You can't skimp on those.
wp000383.jpg

If you remember the email I attached earlier.
You would remember Susie saying "Actually the Tactical is more durable" .
That remains to be tested .
For now it appears that the brass heat sink size is..... acceptable.
Still haven't unscrew the sink out yet. Maybe after the warranty has passed.
wp000380q.jpg

For criteria 2 , I give this a 15%.

NOW!
To the Pièce de résistance!
The POWER!
On paper, this should churn out at least 800mW after collimation, but does it?
Nope!
It peaked at 719mW after collimation.
Thats a 10.125% underspecs.
-20% right there.
However, I have to say the output is actually quite stable. So thats a plus.

Here is me burning a stool made of sawn plywood.
2 seconds to smoke.
20 seconds to burn.

However, it doesn't have much burning power beyond 2m due to the multimode construction of the diode, but thats to be expected.

Lastly, we have some beamshots.
And I guess you can only describe this as a light saber at night :p

So thats a 50%

Giving this laser as of the moment , a score of 70%
Not exceptionally brilliant , but nothing that would make you want to slam your head against a wall.

I'll say you'll probably be better off buying from LPF recommended brands instead of cheap Chinese knockoffs....
but then again.
Just my gut feeling , since Lazerer has been getting some heat lately as well... who knows.

Remember to clicky klackity the Rep button if this review helped ya out eh?

Good review. My o-like power rock was also underspec, coming in at only ~1W where it should have been 1.2W.

yeah.
The problem with O-like is that the name of its products are deceiving.

Oh you bought a 1.2W 445nm?
Nu-huh :tsk:
The specs said its going to be 1W>

Oh you bought a 1W?
Nu-huh :tsk:
The specs said its gonna be 800mW>
Mine kinda even failed that test .. but I don't really fancy paying $10 and then waiting for 2 months for it to come back when there is ABSOLUTELY ZERO guarantee if they would give me a new one or a fixed one (already sold out)

Yup, for some reason they choose to play those deceptive games.

What's that, the laser isn't 1.2W? Oh but did you measure with the lens? Oh that's up to 20% power loss right there.

Oh wait, there is also a waterproofing lens there! Well there you go then, that's 20% off and a further 10% loss off of that!

It's retarded IMO, but hey, how many people are actually going to LPM their lasers right?

Edit - claiming package wasn't received first, and then also stiffing me on return shipping was also left a sour taste for me.

I have no idea what did they use to LPM their lasers without a collimation lens for multimode lasers ....
Without the lens , its practically a flashlight that would blind you if you look into it , but not strong enough to burn anything.....
Word games I tell you what.

PS:
You know... I've read an article about user industrial DIAMONDS to enhance laser efficiency... still waiting on that one

Update.
The depressible switch at the back has apparently worn out after 2 months of active usage.

Adding some long lacking beamshots

Still trying to figure out how to work the camera for some accurate brightness and color representation.
