Is it possible to take the laser diode unit from that and making a driver to fit into sumthing smaller?

and no its not a diode in there. its an IR diode pumping some crystals to make a blue color.

A 200mW DPSS Blue laser needs all of the heatsinking it can get so it wouldn't be a good idea to try to make it handheld.
