So if I build the maglite laser using the sony 16x groupbuy diode(250mw) I think, what kind of precautions are there other then not to shine it in anyone/things eyes? Do you really NEED goggles?

Well goggles are not a bad idea period. If you have the funds for some I would recommend getting some.

Yes because you will be wanting to burn stuff and light matches.

If you can afford a high powered laser then you can afford a set of goggles period. You only get one set of eyes so look after them :cool:
