I can't believe nobody's commented on the name of the X10DR, yet.

X10-DR, ex-ten-der. It extends the range of the laser by X10. That's so clever.

i am gonna go shine some lasers on my eye right now because i never noticed that!!!!! :'(

Amnizu, I'm glad you noticed the name! We wanted to come up with someting that was descriptive of the device, and during the product development meeting I wrote down "X10DR" and then started laughing because it was such a great pun. After tossing around a few other names, we concluded that X10DR is the most descriptive and also fun to say.

I wonder how many other products out there were named on the virtue of being a clever pun.

Is this beam expander only for Hercu and Aires or if I have another laser that looks just like those two but from another company can I use it?

And what mW was the laser you were using?

If you mean Techlasers or Dragonlasers , pretty much so.They're the same CNI models, but first make SURE you have the same laser and doesn't only look like them.The Hulk-ultra/Crossfire is not the same as the Aries for instance (but it still might fit, not sure).The Titan is the same as the Hercules and the Hulk is the same as the Aries.(I think I got it right, but double check anyway)

No that not what 10x means. It's supposed to indicate how much larger the beam is expanded over it's original diameter

Yea but that's equvalent to a 10x smaller divergence too, and at really really long distances where you can neglect the initial diameter, the "X10DR"-ed dot will be ~10 times smaller than the non-"X10DR"-ed dot.And this will be kinda equivalent to a 10 times longer range, depending on what you understand by "range", it's a pretty relative term in the laser world

I occasionally use a spotting scope as a beam expander. The diameter of the beam as it exits is about 5 cm there is a visible difference in the beams brightness which affects its long range visibility. It would be equivalent to a beam having a particular divergence corresponding to the diameter of the 5 cm beam at a long distance. It's trade off
