I recently purchased a 593.5nm 20mW laser from LaserCentury, for $720.

Right now I am so furious that the only thing I can call it is a piece of shit.

I waited three weeks for them to ship the laser out. When it arrived, this is what it looked like. Distance 10 feet.

I cannot believe this level of incompetence even exists.

Sorry to hear that, Sta. For that price you should get nice unit. Did you try to ask for repair or refund? What about different company like CNI?

I asked for a refund.
CNI does not ship to the US anymore. This company is a supplier of CNI products.

Wow, that really stinks. It looks like the beam is giving an interference pattern with itself. That is quite a lot of money for this kind of QC. I hope you paid with a source that allows you to get your money back should you decide to do that.

Ouch, that sucks. Spending that level of money and getting a completely messed up product after the long wait. Do you think it was damaged in shipping or shipped out like that?

Terrible--get a refund ASAP --you got a second quality CNI reject probably--you could always ask for a good one as a replacement, I guess.

CNI will ship laboratory lasers but not hand helds --portables or pointers --yes.

Was this a PGL-III C or a GLP?

Maybe youwould be better off getting a PGL-H-593 module and put it into a host yourself or have someone do it for you--CNI offers them see: http://www.cnilaser.com/PDF/PGL-H-593.5.pdf

CNI will ship lab lasers but not pinters --right.

This is a PGL unit.

Edit: just asked CNI for the price of a PGL-H-593.5 module. Thanks Encap

Alex (Hap) mentioned in some earlier post, CNI has somewhere in their webpage resellers links. Might be worth to look at. They do not ship to Europe as well, but some companies offer their products what I've seen. I mean CNI hosts, not just modules.

All 23 CNI distributors, worldwide, are listed here: Contact CNI

Any of them can order any product CNI makes if they wish.

Yikes, I was actually considering buying from these guys, but after what you've just posted I think I'll look somewhere else. $720 for a laser only to have it arrive like that is frustrating indeed!

Best of luck Sta. :)

Hmmm, have you taken a look at the collimation lens? Can you determine what's causing the issue? That really sucks after spending that much money! :(

Doesn't that look like a diffraction interference pattern with a lens? That's the first thing i thought of when I saw that picture.

It does look like that, but that spot could also be a result of resonator design and a missing or unfocused collimating lens. An uncollimated TEMn0 beam will look much like the pictures shown.

the catch is those re-seller will re-sell in the $900-$1200 range not taken into account the shipping..

may be that Chinese member 'tommy' could help Sta with this. since he has 'good' connection with CNI.

Add them to the not so 'good company list'.
