laserbtb vs dragon






Please search the Forum for information, there's endless piles on here...

The first laser is a 473nm DPSS laser, it outputs a bright blue/cyan ish color.

The second laser is a 447nm diode laser, it outputs a purple-blue or royal blue color.

The output power of a laser determines how strong the laser's dot/beam is, the stronger the power the brighter and more powerful the laser is.
 
ok so the dragon will produce a more visible beam than the btb ?

i just want a laser to have fun a night with the most visible beam

Ok, tks to both of you. Smeerworst and hwang21 :yh:

I did search the forum before asking but the part i think i miss was about DPSS vs diode vs $$$ kinda confuse me with the watt part involve in all this.

So from what i would understand between the two (like a 7 year old), the DPSS as a longer overall life time and can be turn on for, let's say 15 min continusly vs diode that you lite for max 1 min ?
 
DPSS is much less efficient than a diode laser, since DPSS uses crystals/optics to obtain the desired color of light. This also makes DPSS less stable and less shock resistant to falls/drops. DPSS can also heat up more quickly as the crystals need cooling too, however the design of the heatsink will determine the laser's cooling efficiency, so it is hard to say which would be turned on for longer. The duty cycle of a laser will inform the consumer how long to keep it on and how long to keep it off to keep the laser from overheating.

I was also looking at these two from LaserGlow.

The 473nm blue Aquarius Pro say's: Duty Cycle: 120 sec. on/20 sec. off

but the 447nm Blue Polaris say's: Duty Cycle: 100%

seem to be both model diode ? Mistake in the description ?

One can be on for 15 min the other 2 ?

And if you had to chose..

Dragonlasers: Blue Laser Spartan BW

or a

Polaris-1000 from LaserGlow @ 799$...

The reason i was first looking for a PL 473nm 5-30

is because i have 5-6, 18650 rechargeable spare battery and charger at home and this one seem's to be the only model that had this option... all other seem's to be CR123a

the battery are bit of a detail for me but still... would be nice to find a blue 1w laser that use these battery.

I think you still don't get it...

473nm and 445nm are completely different.

473nm = DPSS = IR diode (invisible light like on your tv remote) that pumps allot of mW's into tiny little Crystals to get this blue color out resulting in allot of heat and less output then a direct diode say 445nm.

445nm = direct diode = less heat = more efficient thus higher outputs, longer runtime.

DPSS 473nm = expensive (has Crystals inside to achieve this ice blue color wich is different then 445nm blue.

Direct diode 445nm = less expensive couse it doesn't need Crystals to get the deeper blue color.

i have a green one from DL since 2 or 3 year,

it's a black peen style one and work's on tow AAA. I don't remember the spec but at close range (2 feat, maybe more but i would need a stand) it burn's black electrical tape fast, blow balloon's and light matches.. but what i like the most is the amazing beam it make' a night and very far.. i think it's maybe a 125 or 175mh dont remember..

cant wait to get a blue 1w should be stunning compare to my green one...

Your green is also DPSS (very thin beam)

445nm direct diode is thicker beam, just so you know :)

Be sure to checkout with safety goggles couse you need them for sure! with this power.

I would go for a Laserbtb pl 445nm 1000mW or 1600mW just becouse it comes with allot of extra's for a good price.

I have two dragonlasers spartans 445nm and they measured at 1100mW

And i have laserbtb lasers,

I like the laserbtb's better couse like i said they have extra's like you can focus the beam.

I also have lasers from laserglow costing $3000 and $1200 but they end up collecting dust couse they are not really for everyday usage.

You can start first by buying some safety glasses.

Then you can start buying 2 pc fans and glue mirrors to it in a 45degree angle, connecting the wires to a 9V battery (the easy way)
