Just forget about it man The data logging on the laserbee's sucks. Mine never worked from day one, and when I had issues with my laserbee i got SHIT service also.

How do you mean? What aspect "sucks"? The fact that you could not
get it working or the layout of the graph?

The installation is quite simple, just have to set it up
to what port the feed is coming through. On mine
its ports 1,2,3,or 4. with a rs232 -USB converter. (WinXP pro)
Not sure how the newer ones are, but id imagine if
anything they are simpler.

Mine takes about 3mins to setup.


As for the customer service, when I got this
meter, Jerry answered every question I had both
before and long after the sale.

Heres my original short review on mine from 06-26-2008.
The meter has been running for over 2 years straight.
Its on my bench and rarely gets turned off. Excluding
the occasional power outage.

I've got nothing to hide, and It was a warning to him. My service was not good the whole time either. When issues came you wanted unreasonable money for it, and I was able to fix them. Then you call me a liar with my readings because you think its un calibrated even though it WAS tested against Scopeguy20, and Daguins LPMs. Im not mad at you, I don't care, Im not here to fight. Lately my life has taken a turn for the worse and I guess it just makes me a bit crabby, sorry all.
And about my sig, you call us the kenometer posse as a bad thing, so we embraced it and turned it into a good thing.

No, the software just did not work. I had others look at it aswell, Read my above post to find my issues with it.

EDIT: Uug, I said I would not fight anymore, sorry again. Lasersbee PM me if you wish to talk/discuss/argue it.

as ver. I haven't a clue.

You try it with Windows? or something else?
I only use windows and cant be much of a help
otherwise..

You may want to post what system you have had
issues using it on, so that others may benefit from
your experience.

I was curious if there was anything to back up
the repeated statement, or perhaps something
useful that may serve others before they make
a purchase only to use with the same hardware.

Or are you just posting on the basis of an ulterior
motive?

Learn to read. I don't need to back anything up, the software just plain did not work. End of story, if i wanted to give details about my PC and setup I would have.

I don't seem to remember ANY customer that did not get good
and speedy service.
I wanted unreasonable money for???????
I never called you a liar... maybe you assumed that...

I will hunt down the PMs and E-Mails pertaining to your issues
and see what really happened... I honestly don't remember the
details... but I do keep all records for at least a year..
What is the Serial Number of your LaserBee??
It will help me track down the info in our files..

Sorry to hear that your life has taken a turn for the worse..

To avoid further issues with it just "not working," I'd suggest porting it from VB6 to VB.NET.

It would be easy to port it, and systems as old as those with Windows 98 could support it. The Framework's behavior would be consistent across systems, likely averting situations like dlmb's. :beer:

Also, seems my question got missed - what would be the harm in having a download on your website?

Fair enough, that makes sense.

Also, poking around in my copy of Visual Studio, there's an automated converter that will convert the code for you. With any luck, the freeware controls that your software uses will still work; though I can confirm that they work in C#, so they should play nice in VB.NET too.

Visual Basic files are notorious for being weird to even not working when distributed. Sometimes you will get a prompt, sometimes not and sometimes it won't work and no reason why.
I wrote software for companies in VB 4, 5 & 6 and that was the worst problem I found.
I finally started downloading the latest runtimes from MS and when the software was compiled I had the runtime installer file on the CD and the install process would include them.
My problems dropped dramatically too.
