Laser pointer purchase angst

I just bought a 1w 445nm laser pointer from laserbtb.com. It hasn't arrived yet, nor have the safety goggles or the batteries that I purchased. The reason I'm uneasy is that this is my first "big" laser, and I am worried that I may have set the bar to high for my first purchase. I did some reading about how dangerous a 1w laser can be, especially in the 445nm range. I am really worried about how powerful this laser is, and because this is my first laser I don't think I am ready to handle it. Also, the goggles that I got, after more research do not seem to be that effective against the laser I'm getting. On top of this I purchased ultrafire batteries, which after more research seem to be bad as well! Is there a way to cancel orders from laserbtb? If not do you think my situation will turn out good in the end?

In case you didn't know, you will also need a charger for your batteries before you can use them, LI-Ion batteries don't normally ship charged. I have some of those batteries and can confirm they aren't very good in a powerful laser but they will work until you get something better. The goggles are OK I also have those and they have been tested http://laserpointerforums.com/f52/h...-back-7-95-w-case-free-shipping-us-80717.html also you should ask questions and do research before you buy.

You made a good buy man 1w isn't that powerful these days for 445nm but still handle with care. However if your not an idiot you have nothing to worry about. People here will say use goggles and it's a good idea, I personally don't wear mine unless I'm looking up close at the dot or beam and such. But the laser you got you'll love. Those hosts are great. Goto lighthound.com for batteries. AW brand is preferable.
