Laser pen overheating

Back in 2014 I brought a 5mW 650mm red laser pen from Odicforce. One day I was sitting at the computer with the laser in my hand and the button mashed down. Suddenly I could smell something burning and the pen was boiling hot and then stopped working. Today I decided to put some batteries in and it worked, except for one problem, the pen just heats up without the button pressed.

Will getting spare parts fix this and what type of spare parts would I need?

Take the battery out and look up into the battery compartment. From the symptoms I think you'll see the spring up there is bent. I don't think your laser is heating up. I think your battery is getting shorted by a bent spring and it's the battery that's getting hot.
