Laser lines

Hi!
I need your advice and I would like to know if we can do this.
We plan to release a device for marking on a sheet of paper.
I will try to explain and send you some drawings.
If there are any questions , I will be very happy to answer them.
We need a laser that can project a grid of lines onto a plane paper measuring 148 by 210 mm on the table. The laser should stand no further than 100 mm from the sheet lying on the table and be no higher than 120 mm from the sheet. This is ideal! Is it possible?
The color of the laser is not important.
We were guided by a laser keyboard! Is it possible to do something similar but with the lines?

Is it possible to do? And what i need for it?

NO sure what you mean by 'marking' are you meaning etch or burn the paper:?
Lots of diffraction transmission gratings- from cheap to very expensive;

see pics at bottom from eekbay listing..
If dots will work-see number 4 and on the other --the one at 7 oclock.



on another note:

My I suggest this--
1st) add some kind of gereral location in your PROFILE.
2nd) go to our 'Welcome' section and read some of the posts there,
see all the friendly greets they got in return.
You will see that those who add a location in the INTROS TITLE.....
Often greets/replies from members that can help in person- they may be planning a LEM- and without knowing your location..... how will they invite you? NEVEREVER pass up any LEM that you can attend. trust me on that

IIRC my intro title (10+yrs ago)
was like: 'hello New Member from Texas'
It was the smartest thing I have done here.
IDNK that, not far away, there were some super members=helpful- friendly and they are active here and a other laser forums- since then- I have met in person >12 Texas members,
I went to a VERY nice LEM- (TEXLEM 2012) where I met many more-- -- went 5 times to SELEM meeting another 100 members-their families and guests...

I get asked 'what happens at LEMs?'
my stock answer is -- What will not happen--remarks/questions like:
What is up with YOU and those damned lazers ?
What good are they?
JUST WHY do you need more than ONE?

I gave up trying to explain.

I have seen that red laser keyboard projection-
I will try to find and send to you-
PLEASE keep us updated with your projects.
and....when you can

please add your general location--it is painless..lol

UPDATE

I have seen a square grid of dots made with a'starcap'

these come with some pointers- diffraction grating --star- peace signs-smiley face etc.

You can use two diffraction gratings set 90 degrees to each other. Can't tell you the lines/mm you'll need as the higher this number the further apart the lines will be. I would guess that 600 lines/mm might work for your purposes, but don't hold me to that.

Thank you so much for your advice and help! Sorry for mistakes - I'm new to your forum! I will definitely fill out my profile! You are absolutely right - this is very important! I just need to project a grid of stripes on a piece of paper! This is for calligraphers-when they sign sheets :- ) My wife is a calligrapher and when she signs envelopes or sheets she has to manually line them. So I wanted to come up with a device that makes this task easier! And what do you think if you make such a scheme as in the photo? Instead of a projector a diffraction laser with stripes or an led shining on the slide through the lens? What do you think? Sorry my English is not my native language

Thank you very much for your advice! Can you give us a link to these lasers? Where can I buy them and which ones are you talking about? Or where can I order with the desired number of strips?

Sorry. You misunderstood. These are diffraction gratings only, not lasers. They can be purchased for as little as $1.00 each. However, if you are using them to make a grid that will be blocked by someone writing on it, it may not work the way you have planned it.
