Laser generates the photons for "parallel" quantum computers






I remember hearing this last year, but it was about the laser technology involved. Something about the medium that the laser light is shown through effectively turn the light into a type of solid, allowing the lasers to deflect off each other.
Upon hearing of this, all of the Star Wars fans were ecstatic that this could be the next step to producing a real working Lightsaber! Then they were quickly disappointed to learn that the technology would be used only for developing quantum computers. :p
 
Build a quantum computer and who knows, maybe that will lead to finding a solution to building a light saber.
