well... i got this... http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.10902... wasnt sure what to do... so i replaced the lil bulb in it with a red laser diode it worked fine for all of yesterday... then tday after i recharged the batteries n tried to turn it on..... nothing happened... did the diode burn out?... if so what can i do to fix it? is it kinda like the dorcy jr thing where u have to put a 6ohm resistor?... i wanna try n do something.. if i can

You dont just replace it with a laser diode.

First, You shouldve put it in an Aixiz/Sure module. Read on the forum how to do this. Secondly, YOU NEED A DRIVER. Without limitation on current, you fry your diode. If you werent using a driver, never expect to use that diode again.

rckstr and Dr.Lava sell drivers. Check the stickys in the BST section.

hmm.. well i did use a module... srry i fergot to put that in the post....... i dont feel like spendin money on a driver... im wondering if i can do anything with the one in the flashlight........ i wonder what the board in the flashlight is rated... o well

Theres no cheap way around this except building your own driver, and that takes ALOT of skill and patience.

Otherwise you will keep blowing diodes and paying more and more money.

You were lucky it lasted as long as it did. Do you feel like spending money on more diodes? Without a current regulating driver, you might as well turn it back into a flashlight.

Peace,

Why yes there is. :D link --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BI7iuBze5I8
It's bulky but it's worth it. ;)

[link=http://www.dorcydirect.com/p-15-41-4262-45-lumens-1-watt-led-flashlight-with-cr123-battery.aspx]This flashlight has a build in driver that works well for red laser diodes[/link]. You should add a 2.2 ohm resistor for 20x diode or 5 ohm resistor for 16x diode.

o... well... i kno the lava drive is about the size of a dime.... how big is the rkstr drive?... i have about .5 square inch space

oo... thanks...

could someone give me a link to both.... cuz im not too good at findin stuff on here...lol

n when i got my module... the circut board was small n round... ii replaced the 5mw diode in it with one of my dvd burner diodes n after a while they burnt out... is there something wrong with the citcut board?... i was thinkin about hookin the circut board up to the board in my flashlight... i probably only have 4 diodes left

Dude, you need to do a lot more reading before you waste any more of your money and time burning out things because you're groping around in the dark. The information isn't hard to find on this forum (hint: look in the obvious places), and some self-investigation is always better than just having someone else hold your hand through the process.
