Hello am new to this forum and to the laser area but once i had seen what the laser capabilities are i just had to register to the forum and learn more.
My question is that are the Components of a laser and what does each component do?

Thanks

I really suggest you read the FAQS and places of interest in the General Tab.

Diode - emits a concentrated beam of photons
Driver - supplies voltage and current to the diode so it can lase
Module - Houses the diode, optics, and sometimes the driver
Optics - a collimation lens used to focus the laser beam
Host - Holds your batteries, module, driver. (this is the pen, flashlight etc)

Not a problem. Stick around here and be prepared to learn a lot of information. Ask all the questions you can while learning as much as possible.

host - holds everything and provides an on/off switch...usually a stripped out flashlight

Batteries - supplied current and voltage
driver - limited the supply of current to keep your diode safe.
diode - produces the laser beam
collimated housing - focuses the light of the diode
heatsink - helps dissipate the heat to keep your diode cool

thats about it.....
