I bought "Surface Mount FULL RANGE ADJUSTABLE Laser Driver pre-assembled" from Stonetek some time ago, and i was wondering if i could somehow integrate into the minimag. Can you show me where to solder the - and + connections onto? I am super new here so please assume I am from mars and explain things throughly. Also, can you show me how to test the driver? I read the pdf on Stonetek's website but it's really confusing.

Thank you

You solder the positive diode pin to the pad labeled "+LD", the negative diode pin to the one directly below it labeled "GND", and the pos. and neg. voltage input (battery) to where it's indicated in the manual (labeled +IN-) on the opposite short side of the diode pads.

You can either solder the diode directly to the driver, then the whole assembly fits directly into an Aixiz module or possibly a Minimag housing (I don't know them). Alternatively use wires to give more placement flexibility.

So if I do the above, then I don't need a resister? A driver is all i need?

Yes, using a driver is sooo much better than using a resistor for current regulation. Batteries + driver + LD + Lens = One happy laser

Mini Mags are a tight build. That is, there is not much room in the head. The best place to put the driver is in the barrel, and use a different battery supply. See a tutorial of one way to do it here:

So the driver won't fit in the barrel at all? Do I have to get all the supplies in your tutorial to make the laser? (Becasue i don't have batteries or a custom tube or any of that stuff.) :undecided:

That's not the only way to do it, but it's probably the best way. If you're stuck on using a mini mag, you'll need to get some batteries. AAs probably don't have enough poop for that driver and a red diode. 14500s would work (AA sized lithium rechargeables.)

Can't i potentially just cut a whole in the side?
and i thought the Dorcy junior battery also supplied 3 volts, which many people said was enough to power the driver and diode.
I'm confused.
