Hey. I have some PS2 sleds with their laser diode & photodiode array integrated into one package, anyone know a method to reliably determine the pinout of these devices?

Discuss Meta Topic : Pinout & Performance of actual LD in the Lasers forums; Hello all ! Here is a topic which collect all the usefull information on this forum in order to spare time !
Scroll through till you get to the KES DIODES. I hope this helps............rob

They are low powered red diodes. The pinout should be the same as every other red diode, but I'm not 100% sure. There is an IR diode in the sled somewhere as well

the laser diodes, monitor photodiodes & the pickup photodiode array are all in one package in these sleds with about 20 pins., i know they're low powered, but still will be useful for a red pointer or something. :-)

I did not know that. Being almost 55, I NEVER had a ps2,ps3 I-POD MP3 player or ANY of that HIGH TECHIE stuff. I remember Pong & PAC-MAN, & I'm lucky I can run this LAP-TOP. Sorry for being so oooooold. BTW, did you get to read the transcripts of the BS between jake & I via PM's ? This is the type of CRAP he USED to do to me before, & why I got so P O'd. Sorry for the wrong info. about the diodes............rob

Think i'll try using a microscope to look where the bonding wires are going on the dies... Luckily the front of the diode packages has a very big window...
