Is this laser from eBay plug and play, or does it require a driver?

Yeah, I'm not expecting great durability out of cheap lasers. All I was looking for is a cheap way to test the idea.

If I knew what the minimum wattage for this was, I would buy several different wavelengths and whichever performed best I would then buy a more powerful one of that wavelength.

The cheapest high power source would probably be a CO2 laser at 20 to 40 watts. But, man, will that be dangerous. It would probably fry the hell out of any plant it is aimed at, or glass and many other things that you wouldn't want destroyed. It is also invisible, so you won't be able to see the beam or the spot....just the damage.

Solution:

Pro's
  • Doesn't require plugging in.
  • Safer
  • Wiser
  • Better for your pocket
  • Doesn't require building a mini portable death star to kill weeds.
  • Kills the roots too. ;)

Con's
  • Doesn't use lasers
  • Not as cool
  • Not as instant

Solution 2:

Build a mega death star and destroy the earth = no more weeds.
