Is This A Good Power Supply For Our Hobby?

That is pretty much what I have. For laser work higher amps is better than higher voltage. The only thing i'v found with these cheaper adjustable PSU's is they may not last as long as a more expensive unit.

All that said, I can't remember how I got along without one. It's great to be able to just hook something up and see if it runs and at what point it begins lasing.....no more trying to hook up batteries to test.

Ya, it sure beats what I've been doing (building a LM317 based linear supply on a breadboard) whenever I need to test something. Stringing together tons of silicon/zener diodes to drop 13.8V to the voltage needed gets old fast.
