Hi all,

Here are some beamshots of my new 9mm 445nm Nichia diode. < 3W.

The lens used is the 405 G-2 lens.

Could you guys please take a quick look at let me know what you think?

Thanks :)

I should add... if these shots are suitable, please let me know what type of beam shot you would like me to take.

Thank you.

just to add... the drive is drawing 1.45A from the battery and has a voltage drop of circa 7.2v. Once again, these are the input to the driver not the output.

Cheers.

Looks totally fine to me bro. The raw output never looks very pretty but it appears to be to normal levels of uniform brightness and shape. It does however appear that you have a little dust on your diode window that could improve cleanliness of the output.

I'll use a CO2 air duster to try to clean that. Is the dust on the lens or the diode?

Using a CO2 duster should be safe right?

Thanks.

Ah, I was under the impression that the last two shots were with no lens. In that case you could have dust on the lens or the diode its not possible to tell unless you removed the lens and if the dust spots were still there then you know. Either way, I would blow off the lens from the front and check if the spots are still visible. If the spots are still there blow off the inside of the lens and the diode itself.

Compressed CO2 dusters are just fine to use, I use them regularly.

Just a warning, myself and many others have been reminded to use the EDIT feature when updating or adding to your posts. Just thought i would pass that along. I have been reading a lot of posts regarding the beam from this diode. Can't wait to see mine.

The beams from M140s are spectacular but the dots can be a little less amazing sometimes.

This isn't the M140. The M140 is a 5.6mm Casio diode right? This is a 9mm Nichia diode which is around 500mW more powerful than the M140.

Right, I don't know why I said M140. It's pretty much the same beam profile though so its still fine.

Did someone say they wanna see a f'd up diode beamshot?

Well there's a couple of them. When you have a beam that looks like a big, blue, eyeball, that's deffinately bad.

That one looks to me like a totally f'd up diode window that, through surgery, can be repaired.

But yes, your diode appears to be perfect. Dust is normal and I regularly clean off my laser lenses because of it. Even with all(the ones that can be) my lasers being capped when not in use they still get dust on the lenses.

Apex: I'm using all the lens caps that I have at home. Do you know where I can buy some more for these AixiZ modules?

Thanks.
