if i shine my nova x75 at a wall is really bright but seconds later it goes dimmer just a little i put it through a lens and noticed that when it gets dimmer the dot splits into two is it mode hopping and if it is how can i get it fixed

sounds like TEM01 and the only real way to fix it would be to send it back to Nova if it's still under warranty

yes that is mode hopping. just like Mario said, see if you can still get it fixed under warranty

yep, i sent my x-65 back cause it was mode hopping and i got one alot higher power, the x-65 was originaly 71mw average but they sent me one with 91mw average :).

...lazer... ;D ;D ;D

thanks for the help i have emailed nova about it but i hope i will not have to wait 2 week  for a replacement

they said to try different batteries so i did duracell rechargeable batters now its not as bad about 25% of the dot moves but the power drops and it cant burn no more. I wanted to make sure because if its fine i have to pay 60 dollars for them to check it out and shipping

i sent my X75 back still waiting for them to test it but im not worried about them saying its fine because it was definitely mode hopping. my avatar is what the dots looked like and thats not that bad (any mode hopping is bad) i have some other pics of the dots a lot farther apart.

it was not as bad as that but i lost all the power when down to about 20mw

here is a Pic From Nova about mode hoping it was copied from This http://www.laserpointerforums.com/forums/YaBB.pl?num=1197951903/15 thread

Quote from an email from Nova about my X75
"The beam may be slightly elliptical but it should never split into two beams as this is mode hopping."

also if you can take some pics of the "dots" and email to them and see what they say.

25% of the dot moves into the not acceptable but the rest is fine but i lose all the power did that happen to your laser

i did lose burning power but the beam still looked fine. if i did lose "light" power i did not notice it.

have you gone over the 100sec duty cycle?

from what i can tell you need to send it back to Nova. did you tell them about the loss of power? and the "dots" do go into the "not acceptable " range right? if it does send it back. Even if its close i really dont think they would charge you $60, from what ive seen Nova is BIG on customer service.

Can does the dot look elliptical? or can you see 2 dots even if they are connected?
