Is if bad if I keep spraining/breaking the same ankle over and over? I just severely sprained it again just a few minutes ago, it seems now I can't have any amount of weight on it anymore, and if I even step at a slight angle or side step my right ankle can't support the weight and just collapses. So is it just because I don't let it heal or is my ankle going to be permanently damaged? :-? :-? Just a few questions...

once you sprain an ankle or stretch some ligaments that ankle will always be a little weaker than the other. you need to take the precautions and let it heal... wear an air cast or wrap it for a few months and let it get better. otherwise you will just make it worse and worse

Eventually your ankle will evolve to your abuse, and you can roll it or sprain it freely without pain if the abuse keeps up.   ;D

Actually this is somewhat true.  My shoulder sometimes comes out of the socket.  The first few times hurt like crazy, where I couldn't change gears on my car or even lift my arm to move in bed.  Now, 20 times later, (I do allot of active stuff ;D) if it pops out, I just pop it back and continue on my business.  It doesn't usually hurt until the next day but not enough to prevent me from doing anything normal.  ;D  My pinky toe is now double jointed meaning that it can move a 90 degree turn horizontally and vertically because I "stubbed" it while running bare foot so many times as a kid.  Now when I stub it, it just moves out of the way!

I think it depends on your approach of how it will heal.  I HATE being injured and I believe that if I use (minorly) injured body parts like normal (ignoring the pain) that it will heal quicker and stronger then before, again and again.  The only thing is that the injury will be more susceptible to reoccur, but the healing will be quicker and less excruciating every time.  As far as long term consequences, don’t ask, I’m only 26!   :P

Ages ago, I stubbed my big toe really badly and it bruised up something nasty.

But because I always walk on my big toe (as you do) it kept get sore and bad. It was years before it fully healed.

Not fun :(

well I broke my elbow and my hand real bad a long time ago now they "stretch" a lot farther than most. my middle finger can go 4 directions and my pinky can go 3, my thumb dislocates after anything over 50lbs. my shoulder can only military press 60lbs :-/ my ankle hurts bad now :'(

thats my pinky going sideways in the picture

See your doctor. You may have torn (or seriously stretched) a ligament. Trust me on this one. BOTH of my ankles have reconstruction scars. One was from a traumatic injury. The other was from "cumulative" injury (re-spraining it over and over again until the ligament had stretched so much it couldn't hold the ankle stable anymore). How long has it been since the original injury? It can be fixed. You don't want to trip and fall with something precious in your arms.

Peace,
dave

Too late for that, it's been several years since the first time, Doctor said it "looked" fine but then again he said acid burns arn't that bad...I don't have the money for surgery, i can't even afford to fix my truck so thats going to be out for a while :'(

1994 f-150, needs new oil pan, freeze plugs, regular tires...and a few more things

and as dave has said a doctor is the best choice! pulling or ripping ligaments can be worse than breaking your bones... its one of the reasons i gave up skateboarding.

Then I suggest you get yourself a good quality ankle brace.  Get the kind you can lace up with stiff "inserts" in the side panels.  You can wear this kind inside a shoe (although it may force you up a size).  Unless you can get it stabilized long enough for the ligament to "shrink" (it may never anyway depending on the amount of damage done), eventually, you will have no choice :(

dave
