no green passes thru the goggles? not even 1mW? What is the VLT of the goggles?
I would say that if no green passes the goggles, and VLT is 50%, you have 50% IR reading there so, you could expect more IR than you tested (as IR isn't visible light but it is near RED, I'd say 25% of the IR got filtered). You can test your results if you have another identical goggles for green lasers.

No, when I perform this test, I cannot see any green at all light shining on the thermopile. The goggles say "ANSI Z87.1", then on the other side they say "532nm 190-540nm A001-1"

Mine goggles from dinodirect says that too. Agaisn't impact and such. Knowing the VLT you should know all things. Getting another goggle is better

Well, considering you have a 500mW laser you need to look OEM laser systems. Someone here in forum works there.

if want protection with lower price, dragon lasers should do the trick. Many members like it.

Man.. don't turn that laser on without goggles. Don't burn with it. It will screw up your vision even if you point in a white wall indoors.

Any experiments done with that laser are done with eye protection. I've never actually seen them beam on a wall lol. Only way I've observed this laser with the naken eye is looking at the beam outdoors.

Have you heard anything bout Laserglow's eye gear?

I'd like to point out that half watt of green is heating the goggles to the point they will emit IR light of their own in the mid IR range (non-coherent, blackbody, and harmless) that is picked up by the sensor. How significant this is, I can't say.

To the extreme - try putting a hot mug of coffee in front of the sensor in a dark room and you'll see what I mean.

Oh cool, never knew that. That particular run was done with the goggles pretty close to the thermopile too. I will try it next time with more distance in between.
