IR(808nm) hand held laser build

is it possible to build a high power burning hand held IR 808nm laser in a flashlight host like jayrobs diy green laser build or anything small enough to fit in your pocket??

what kind of driver would you need and what kind of batteries would you use??

It's easily possible. You can use the same driver you would use for a Long-Die Open Can diode, set to about 250mA for a 200mW 808nm diode. Other than drive current, the only difference between an 808nm build and any red build is the diode's pin connections. The pin connections are the same for all 808nm 5.6mm diodes.

what is the difference between a DX 50mW green and a "True 50mW green". are they measuring combined wavelengths or seperate?
