I pulled everything (except a 401K that I cant touch) out of the market 3 years ago,
now I invest in the 3 B's and a little place in the mountains.

You and the 90% of the other conservative stock holders. Thats why the economy plummeted. Must of been nice to have Bush rape the country, making everyone even more rich, then pull all the money out at the end. Biggest scam I've ever seen. You guys are the reasons why the country is in the shit hole it is today. Enjoy it.

Or it could have been the stupid people getting those ARM's and thinking their value was going to increase. Or all the other types of junk mortgages. I work in real estate so I am familiar with this industry.

Currently I only have money in some mutual funds. I used to invest a lot in real estate but havent bought anything in over a year. I will start investing more heavily later this year and next in the stock market and more in real estate.

I hate to keep saying Bush, because it sounds like my opinions are politically motivated, and they are not. A lot of presidents screwed this county too.

Anyway, it was Bush who approved the go ahead to create those new loans. I personal think he took a page from Ross Perot's play book, and fleeced the country. And dont think they didnt make billions with that oil shortage scam. Its no secret the Bush family and the oil barons are all old friends.

I wish people would stop standing on their party's line, and be honest in what is really going on. They all blame Obama ( and no I'm not really an Obama fan either) but he is just playing the cards that he was dealt from the previous administration. Its going to take a long time to repair what has been done, and no president is going to do in one term. It just wont happen.

Yes I am a conservative, I'm financially responsible for myself, I work a labor intensive blue collar job and would be considered a tightwad by most peoples standards. I purchase most of my stuff at thrift shops or garage sales and pack a lunch to work.

The money I saved in the past was invested in stocks, and it came in quite handy when I was laid off in 2002.

In 2007 I watched a video of David Walker, the U.S. Comptroller General (He runs the accountability Office for the U.S.) explained how the U.S. is headed for bankruptcy ~
(one of the many videos out there ~ David Walker on CBS 60 Minutes )

Also watched a few videos by Peter Schiff and Gerald Celente about the fragility of the real estate market.... then watched it fall.

After waking up and seeing where we're headed I pulled the $1000 or so I had in the market and started investing in the 3B's.

While others spend on toy's and lattes I figure its my hard earned dollar, and while it still has some value to it I'll spend it how I choose.

It's past repair time, and they will continue to use the blame game till it falls apart.

If you believe that mainstream media is honest, there a video called "Outfoxed" that's worth looking up.

If you believe government or the corporation are your friends, I suggest watching the Google documentary video series on Edward Bernays and how the public can be manipulated "The Century of Self" The Happiness Machines - The Engineering of Consent - There is a Policeman Inside (I think I have the names correct, not sure on the order).

As far politics are concerned, I see both the democrats and republicans as the two feet of the same critter, and we're headed down a dead-end road that ends at a cliff.

If you haven't seen it there's a documentary out there called ~ The Money Masters
Here's part one The Money Masters - Part 1 of 2
& part two The Money Masters - Part 2 of 2
Its a little long but well worth watching.

Everyone has an opinion on where we're headed, my investment advice would be in the
3B's ~ beans, bullets, n' bandages.
3G's ~ god, guns, n' gold.
3S's ~ silver, seeds n' skills.

But that just my investment strategy.

I found this informative.

Kind of ironic. I'm disabled, and my girlfriends works in a cafeteria. Yet we just bought a condo, my fridge is packed with handmade Italian sausages, steak tips, chicken breasts, and rib eyes. I do buy some some cloths at Walmart, but most is mid-high level mail order. I have around 10K in antiques. And we go to garage sales, flea markets, and thrift stores for the enjoyment, not out of necessity. How? We budget too, but we spend the money we save on the enjoyment of everyday living. You cant take the money with you, and I'm sure your kids can make a life for them selves without you working your whole life to fund their future.

My oldest brother (60) was like you. Sacrificing enjoyment over the money. Today he still owns his own business, but lives in an apartment with his douse bag, gold digger wife. I laugh at him all the time.

And the 3 Bs is BS. We all live quite nice in this country. It will never get to the point we will starve, or have to fight for our existence. All that crap is propaganda to get you to horde your money. The whole key to the countries come back is to put money back into the system, not keep it out. Any fool can see that.

He made some good points on the economy for July of 2009, but things have been heading down hill faster then most people expected over the last year. Now with unemployment running out for many, I think things will be getting much worse before it gets better.

I believe we are up to 47 states not meeting budgets and most are asking for federal assistance help pay unemployment.

With the federal government debt of 13 trillion and growing ~ U.S. National Debt Clock : Real Time
I don't think they'll be stepping in to help.

China now has a credit rating higher then the U.S.

Sounds like your doing great........ Kudos to you.

For many folks out there the old adage of~
"Its a rescission if the neighbor looses his job, but its a depression if it happens to you" applies.

Sort of funny you mentioning antiques, back when I was laid off I started selling antiques and collectibles,
its just amazing what you can find at garage sales and thrift shops..... n' for pennies on the dollar :D

I did quite a bit of playing and having fun up till about 5 years ago, figured if I stopped blowing my money and
paid off the mortgage I could exit the rat race at 49 and head out to a little place I bought in the mountains.

I Still have a couple years to go, but to me it will be worth it, I guess it just depends on where ya want to be in life

You are correct we need to get the unemployment capped. I've over-heard people talk, saying they were making just as much with unemployment as they were working, so why go back to work.

I also agree that happiness is what level of living you are comfortable with. I have basic needs, and appreciate the smaller things in life. I dont need a big house, or big toys. More than often they are not worth the trouble. Even if I hit the lottery I would give 2/3 away. The money would bring a lot of happiness to a lot of people, and I wouldn't want the burden of having to worry about security, beggers, and scam artist. Plus all the plastic people that inevitably surround people with any kind of wealth.

Like I said, I wouldn't sweat the economy. Yeah some people may have to sell off their 2nd and 3rd car. And Jr. might have to go to a lesser college. But the situation is radically being over exaggerated. We need the people to put the money back into the system, and the healing will start faster. Then enforce some spending caps for the government so this will never happen again. The system has to change, but it will never happen till people drop the 2 party propaganda parade, and start thinking for themselves. I doubt it will ever happen though.
