In for a surprise: the resistance of water

Any way I was just showing that the mix of salts and other compounds change the conductivity of the water, and over time unlike table salt, most do not mix well and sink into the water, making your reading on a dmm go wonky. If you shake the bowl up, the reading should stabilize then drop slowly or rise depending on the location of the probe. I would be interested in hearing some of your other methods for making things like resistors, I have made field expedient step down transformers so folks in Iraq could have power for their video games and what not. I am part radio and em geek and part survivalist. That though is a topic for another thread.

not every one carries resistors in their pocket.

Not everyone carries a wallet, either. But if you KNOW you're gonna be shopping, you should consider things like this before you leave the house. It's not about thriftiness or "survival," it's about planning ahead.

Let's say we've been tasked with building a fire. You bring a pair of sticks to rub together; I bring a propane torch. Sure you could argue, "I'm a survival expert. I've been starting fires this way for 11 years."
That doesn't mean it's the best method (or even a good method).

Another rant to show your superiority perhaps...
Not everyone is prepared for any event like you...:cryyy:

The OP was about the resistance of the water he
tested...:undecided:

Ad hominem, straw man, and excessive emoticons? You're better than that, sir.

If he's to the point where he "could make it work over and over again," it's not a surprise situation.

I don't mean any disrespect to anyone, I just think using salt water for a resistor is a stupid idea. Now let's move on. :)
